GÖRKEM ACAROĞLU
Museum UNDONE
2021
Museum UNDONE was a playful encounter with the Kyneton Museum collection, engaging with history and its gaps, as part performance, part exhibition. Created with cross disciplinary artists and directed by Görkem Acaroğlu, the work was an immersive choose-your-own journey through collective possibilities for an imagined future.
Alexandra Harrison, Jannete Hoe, Yogashree Thirunavukarasu and Sermsah bin Saad performed across the Kyneton Museum, in both indoor and outdoor locations. Internationally acclaimed local visual artist, Desmond Lazaro re-curated the existing collection to immerse audiences in an exploration of our past, present and future. Taungurung artist Maddi Moser created projections to cover the walls and ceilings both inside and outside the building, and local sound artist Kirri Buchler created soundscapes to enhance the experience. Taungurung man Dennis Batty provided cultural consultation to the project.
Museum UNDONE asked us to consider what the impact of the past is on the present? What are the stories we tell about ourselves? How do we want to be remembered in the future when we become history?
