In a future not too far from here, virtual online multi-user worlds are thriving. Many people have moved in permanently, relinquishing their real lives for a world where dreams come true. In a show of altruism, one particular virtual world offers an award to a handful of genuine asylum seekers. If successful, these lucky few will be given a permanent home in the virtual online society. Asim is one of these finalists. At The Hotel, he awaits his final interview while taking part in last stages of a selection process. But things are strange at The Hotel, and they just keep getting stranger.

Projecting and operating live characters and locations from Second Life, Exception is a darkly comic reflection upon our Western society's desire for more, while those in the third world seek just a bit of what the First World have.
